Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

As part of Snap Care's thorough screening process, all the candidates we place must have a satisfactory Enhanced DBS and be on the Update Service. If you do not have a DBS that is on the Update Service when we place you, we will process your DBS application using a fast-track service to make sure it is completed as quickly as possible.

DBS Update Service

The DBS Update Service is linked to a current DBS. If you are on the Update Service, your new employer (or Snap Care) will be able to quickly perform an instant, free, online check to confirm that the existing Certificate is up to date. Candidates subscribing to this service can use their DBS certificates when changing jobs or roles within the same sector.  Please note that you only have 28 days from the date your certificate is dispatched to join the Update Service.

We recommend registering a DBS certificate on the Update Service as soon as possible. This demonstrates you are committed to best practices, reassures our clients and families, and ensures there are no delays to your start date. If we put forward two candidates for a vacancy, and one candidate is on the Update Service and the other is not, the candidate who is on the Update Service is already at an advantage.

How Do I Apply for a DBS?

We will send you a link to the online form from a fast-track service that we use. You then simply enter your details and submit the form. We recommend applying for the Children and Adult Workforce and stating your job title as 'Support Worker'. This is then appropriate if you work with children or adults in the future.

Your application will be valid for 6 months, so if you have not yet been placed with us, you can choose to keep your application ready for us to process. There is no cost to start your DBS application.

For us to process your DBS, we will need to verify your documents. We use TrustID a UK government-approved certified Identity Service Provider (IDSP). You upload your ID documents and these are then verified. If you are unable to use TrustID because you do not have a passport, you will need to show your original documents to us, either in person (in Hainault, Essex  or Peacehaven, East Sussex, or by posting them using special delivery. For the safety of your documents, we would recommend using TrustID if possible.

Who Pays for the DBS?

If we successfully place you, as a little extra 'thank you', we will pay for your DBS Certificate through a fast-track service and the first year of your Update Service.

Your Current DBS Status & What You Need to Do

You are already on the Update Service
Great news! Just send us a scan of the certificate relating to the Update Service if you are having an online interview with one of our recruiters.

You have a recent DBS, but it is not registered on the Update Service
Even if you have a recent DBS, if you are not on the Update Service, this is not transferable. We strongly encourage you to apply for a new Enhanced DBS and join the Update Service as soon as possible.
