#PantsDown4Equality- Update!

The ChangingPlaces campaign outside the Bathstore on Baker St was fantastic pulling in a great crowd who were rather bemused to see a number of people with their #PantsDown4Equality!

It was a real honour to meet Sarah Brisdion who had started this particular campaign plus some other familiar faces (or Twitter buddies!) including the rather fabulous Emily White and her dad Dan author of Department of Ability.

Child Brain Injury Trust

As of the 14th May 2018 the Child Brain Injury Trust launches a new support service for young people with acquired brain injuries. The launch coincides with Action for Brain Injury Week.

The new service is a Brain Injury Information Card, suitable for young people aged 11-18. The idea behind the card is that young people can carry the card as they go about daily life, and present it in situations where they need a little and understanding.

Speak to the Child Brain Injury Trust in Person! They will be joining us at our Snap Info Day on Saturday 2nd!

Benefits of Agreeing a Gross Salary for Nannies & Domestic Staff

We often get asked by employers and employees how best to agree a salary; particularly if this should be agreed in terms of net or gross. While the benefits of agreeing a salary in gross is more obvious for employers, there are also some important reasons why gross is also better for employees. This month, we’ve put together some helpful advice to help you discuss the benefits of a agreeing a salary in gross with your employee.
What is the difference between gross and net?
  • Gross salary is take-home pay + employee’s national insurance + tax.
  • Net salary is the take-home pay that is left after tax and employee’s national insurance are deducted.

Speak to Nannytax in person!  Nannytax are our lovely sponsors for the Snap SEN Info Day on June 2nd. They'll be presenting and providing all sorts of great employment / payroll information on the day, so if you have any questions, come along!

A Professional’s Guide to Functional Rehabilitation

We all desire to be as independent as possible in our day to day lives.  Sometimes our ability to carry out the daily activities that are important to us (sometimes referred to as our ‘functional independence') is affected by accidents, illness or a long term diagnosis.

Occupational Therapists specialise in helping both adults and children maximise their independence through a rehabilitative or compensatory approach to functional challenges. They work with their clients to assess and identify challenges, prioritise goals, and then structure a rehabilitation plan focusing on achievement or maximising functional independence. In this article we explain functional rehabilitation in more detail and look at the role an OT can play.
