About the Client: We have had the pleasure of working with Rayan and his family since he was very young. Now 18 and studying for his A-Levels, Rayan is bright, witty and great company. He loves football, enjoys history, keeping up with politics, gaming, chatting and spending time with friends. Rayan has cerebral palsy. He has a cochlear implant, is a full-time wheelchair user and requires adult support for all personal care and healthcare needs. His home is fully adapted, including ceiling hoists. He communicates verbally and eats orally (he takes his time and definitely appreciates something sweet!).

The Role at a Glance The core part of this role is to support Rayan overnight. He experiences spasms, can become stiff and needs support to change position during the night. This is a physical role and is always worked 2:1, so you will have a colleague on shift with you. We are recruiting a team of four. One Waking Night Carer will be based in a designated sitting room with a monitor, and one in Rayan’s bedroom. You’ll carry out regular checks and repositioning throughout the night, and Rayan will call out when he needs additional assistance. As any 18-year-old would, Rayan enjoys socialising. Some shifts may begin at 7.30pm if he is heading out with friends – perhaps to the pub, cinema or theatre. The aim is to provide the right level of support while allowing him the space and confidence to enjoy his independence. You will play an important role in helping him build social confidence, maintain friendships and feel supported without feeling restricted.

This Job Would Suit This role would suit a confident, positive and proactive *female candidate who can offer natural, age-appropriate peer support – someone who can fit in with his friends. You’ll be comfortable accompanying an 18-year-old into social and community settings, striking the right balance between being supportive and giving space. You will have waking night experience and be confident supporting someone with a physical disability. A friendly, down-to-earth personality, a good sense of humour and an interest in topics such as football, politics, history or gaming would be a great fit.

Why You’ll Love This Role Spending time with Rayan– he is bright, engaging and full of personality. Excellent work-life balance with 4 nights on, 4 nights off. Full training is provided, including guidance on physical support and physiotherapy stretches. You’ll be part of a small, supportive team making a genuine difference at an important stage of a young person’s life.

Recruitment Process This vacancy is being managed through Snap Care’s Shortlist Service. We will review all applications and verify that the essential criteria are met before passing suitable CVs and contact details to our client/case manager, who will continue the recruitment process directly. By applying, you consent to your details being shared with our client.

Please note: Unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship for any of our vacancies. *If a specific gender is required, this is a genuine occupational requirement under para. 1, schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
