About this client/child: Fern, aged 2, is a delightful and charming little girl who lives in Notting Hill with her mum, dad, and big sister (4). Fern adores pretend play, dolls, songs, music, peekaboo, and dancing. She also likes, water play, sensory games, books, and pushing her baby dolls in their prams. Fern frequently imitates others, especially her older sister, and thrives on interaction with both adults and other children. She’s an enthusiastic explorer outdoors, with a special love for walks, the beach, and splashing in the pool. There’s very little Fern doesn’t enjoy, she is truly a sweet and endearing presence. Fern has a rare genetic condition (ZBTB18) which results in mild global developmental delay. Although she isn’t verbal yet, she has a strong understanding of language and communicates through gestures, signs, and expressive facial cues. Thanks to early intervention, she has made excellent progress and is now walking well. Affectionate, playful, and socially engaged, Fern continues to flourish with weekly speech therapy, physiotherapy, and play therapy.
Overview of role: We are seeking a fantastic and nurturing SEN Nanny to support Fern, in all areas of her learning and development. Fern will begin attending morning sessions at a local nursery from September, and her afternoons will be spent continuing the well-established routines already in place. Fern enjoys play therapy at home twice a week, and she also attends weekly sessions for physiotherapy and speech and language therapy (SALT), which are just a short journey from the family home. The successful nanny will be confident in liaising with all of Fern’s therapists, ensuring that their guidance is thoughtfully integrated into her daily routines. Play is at the heart of Fern’s world, so this role involves planning and engaging in age-appropriate, play both at home and outdoors. We’re looking for someone proactive who can help Fern make excellent developmental progress by creating enriching, playful learning opportunities tailored to her needs. There are no domestic duties required beyond light household support, serving pre-prepared lunch or dinner, occasionally assisting with bath time, and keeping the living space tidy throughout the day.
Who this job would suit: This role is ideal for a candidate with a background in early years development, proven experience of collaborating with therapists, and a hands-on approach to implementing therapeutic strategies. We're looking for someone bubbly, playful, and passionate about working with young children, someone who brings energy, and creativity into every interaction.
What’s great about this job: Working with Fern is a genuine delight—her energy and positivity brighten every day. Joining her on this exciting journey of growth and development is a truly special opportunity.
