About the Client/Child
Snap Care has had the pleasure of supporting Henry since he was a little boy, he recently turned 25. Henry is staying with his parents in their home in London over the festive period. A real charmer with a big personality, Henry is bright, sociable, outgoing, and loves engaging with those around him. He thrives on new experiences, particularly theatre and exploring London. Henry has Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and requires 24/7 support to meet his health, care, and medical needs. He is a full-time wheelchair user, receives all his nutrition, fluids, and medications via a gastrostomy (PEG) tube, and communicates through his AAC device, Eye Gaze. Henry values being treated as a mature adult and appreciates respectful, inclusive communication that recognises his independence and personality.
The Role at a Glance
Henry requires a temporary Waking Night Carer to support him while he is at his family home over the Christmas period. Shifts run from 10:00pm to 7:30am, and you’ll assist Henry with settling into bed; he will have already had his shower. His parents will support you with transfers and bedtime routines as needed. During the first few hours, Henry needs to be vented frequently through his gastrostomy (PEG) tube — this usually lessens as the night progresses, though at times it may continue throughout the night. Each time he is vented, this must be recorded in the diary provided. Henry will already be in bed when you arrive. A paid trial shift of a few hours will take place alongside the permanent night carer before you begin working independently. Once Henry is settled, you may monitor him from the next room and quietly read, study, or use an iPad. On rare occasions, Henry may have disturbed sleep, and his parents will be available to assist if he becomes unsettled.
This Job Would Suit
This role is ideal for an experienced, *female waking night carer who is respectful, discreet, and caring. It would suit someone who is emotionally mature and looking to earn additional income over the festive period—perhaps to complement a current part-time role or alongside studies.
Why You’ll Love This Role
Henry is a bright and charming young man and supporting him over the festive period will be an incredibly rewarding experience. This is a temporary Christmas placement with competitive rates of pay.
