About the Client Snap Care had the pleasure of meeting Holly when recruiting for her wonderful Team Leader. Holly, 21, is now looking for an additional Support Worker to join her dedicated team. Holly lives independently (10 minutes’ drive from her parents) in her own flat with 24/7 2:1 support. Holly is an exceptional young woman, with a very busy social life. She loves and thrives on the interaction with her support staff; engaging with her in an outgoing, fun but gentle manner brings out the very best in Holly! She has dystonic cerebral palsy, is a full-time wheelchair user, and communicates via eye gaze. Although she receives her food and medication via a PEG, Holly loves eating for fun, so trying new foods in different restaurants is a big part of her social calendar!
The Role at a Glance Holly requires full practical support with all aspects of her ADL’s, including personal care and manual handling etc. Holly’s week is planned and very much led by her, and she is busy! 3 days (Tuesday to Thursday) each week Holly attends Chicken Shed, Monday she has Physiotherapy, followed by online tutoring (Math and English), Friday, SaLT online, and again tutoring. Evenings are typically more chilled and quiet allowing Holly to catch up watching her favorite shows (Love Island, I’m a Celeb, Married at First Sight…to name a few), although, if there is an upcoming show or performance Holly will more than likely be at Chicken Shed rehearsing. Saturdays are typically spent out and about, visiting the zoo, going to food festivals, gigs etc. Sunday is family time, Holly will spend the day with her parents returning home that evening. A few years ago, Holly caught the ‘travel bug’ big time, so she absolutely loves planning and holidaying abroad (up to 7-day trips outside the UK) with her support staff.
This Job Would Suit: An experienced *female Support Worker / PA who possesses a genuine and enthusiastic desire to support young adults with disabilities in fulfilling their life goals. Team work will come naturally to you, along with having excellent communication and organizational skills. This is a permanent position; therefore you will be able to commit to this post for a minimum of 12 months, consistency is key for Holly.
Why You’ll Love This Role The successful candidate will receive ongoing supervision and be part of a team that focuses on training and high standards. I cannot end without reiterating how fabulous this young woman is; Holly has great self-determination.
