About this client/child: Frankie is a bright and cheerful 10-year-old who lives in Hereford with his mum and younger brother, aged 5. He’s full of energy and enthusiasm, with a love for Dragon Ball Z, bouncing on the trampoline, cooking, and art. There’s very little Frankie doesn’t enjoy, his upbeat nature is one of his most wonderful qualities. Frankie has quadruple amputations of his hands and feet, and wears bilateral, lower limb prosthetics, and he has undergone multiple surgeries. These medical challenges have caused him to miss significant time at school, and as a result, he has fallen behind in his learning. Frankie is currently undergoing assessments for ADHD, and he can find it challenging to stay engaged with his schoolwork. He completes approximately 90% of his learning tasks on a laptop and writes by holding a pen using both of his upper limbs.

Overview of role: As Frankie prepares to enter his SATS year at primary school, we’re looking for a compassionate and creative part-time tutor to support his education across all subjects. Someone who can help build his confidence, help him manage his distractions, and ensure he’s equipped with the tools he needs to thrive. Frankie genuinely enjoys his time at school, particularly the social side of things. We are seeking someone who can encourage and nurture his natural curiosity and love for learning. Due to several surgeries, Frankie has missed a significant amount of school and is currently behind in all subjects. However, his enthusiasm for science stands out, it's his strongest area and a subject he truly enjoys exploring. The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in educational settings. You will be skilled at engaging Frankie through playful, interactive learning approaches, while also demonstrating the ability to establish and maintain clear boundaries. This is a long-term opportunity to make a meaningful difference. We’re looking for someone committed to supporting Frankie throughout Year 6 and continuing into his secondary education journey. This position is a directly employed role under the PAYE (Pay As You Earn) system

Who this job would suit: This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong knowledge of the Key Stage 2 and 3 curriculum, as well as experience working with children with Special Educational Needs. Potentially a qualified teacher, who is seeking to incorporate an additional two hours of work into their weekly schedule.

What’s great about this job: Frankie is a delightful and charming child. Guiding him as he develops his skills throughout his educational journey promises to be both fulfilling and inspiring.
