Snap are looking for a temporary Christmas SEN Nanny to support Tom who will be turning 12 in January, alongside his cheeky and active 5 year old brother William. Tom is very engaged and charming: a sweet boy with a wonderfully silly sense of humour and a passion for fast motor vehicles! Tom has cerebral palsy and continues to make fantastic progress. He is gastrostomy fed and while his verbal communication has improved considerably, he still relies a lot on Makaton – and is an excellent signer.
This job will suit a fun loving SEN Nanny who is able to engage with both boys, use your own initiative, but equally be happy to work alongside mum and dad. There will be various activities planned, either in the home setting or out and about. There is the opportunity for additional hours, especially on the non-festive days so please enquire.
We are looking for someone who is very caring, focused and on the ball. A good understanding of Makaton is key as this is Tom’s main form of communication. Prior experience with tube feeding would be a bonus but the family are equally happy to train. The family would like the SEN Nanny to be available for a couple of shadow shifts before commencing in the role.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a family very well known to Snap. We have placed numerous candidates with Tom over the years and to see the progress he continues to make, is just incredible. To be part of Tom’s wonderful journey this festive period, please contact Rachael at Snap who has met with this very welcoming family.
Please note, whilst Snap endeavour to reply to all applications, some of our positions are so popular this is not possible and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
