About the Client
Jacob is 16 years old, and lives at home with his parents and younger brother in Woking. He is an engaging, funny, charming young man with a great sense of humour. There is a cheeky side to his personality as he loves to joke around or play pranks. He loves to chat and is a great conversationist! Jacob is an avid Football Fan, and travels to watch games; this is a big hobby! Another passion of his is music, any genre at all, anything with a beat! Other hobbies include gaming, swimming, cooking and skiing. Jacob has Cerebral Palsy, and because of his condition he requires practical support to meet his care needs. He is a wheelchair user, and can weight bear, and transition with support (equipment to assist such as a Sara Steady). There is a lift in his home that Jacob uses for getting up or downstairs. All in all, Jacob is a really cool guy, and a typical teen, and he is excited to expand his support team to facilitate his independence.
The Role at a Glance
Arriving at 8.00pm, the shift starts with a full handover from Jacob’s day PA and the Waking Night Carer will continue with the evening / bedtime routine. Once Jacob is comfy in bed, he will let you know via the video monitor when he needs assistance. This is an active waking night shift, between regularly repositioning Jacob, and completing general duties such as light household duties, getting his school bag ready, etc. Jacob is picked up at 7.30am by school transport, so the mornings are busy, and it is essential that everything is prepared and ready to go. Jacob would like his Support Worker / PA to ensure his phone, watch and Air Pods are charging throughout the night, so he has them on the school bus – the most important part of the role according to Jacob!
