SEN Support Worker / Buddy (Bank Worker) in Gloucester, GL4.  A fantastic part-time weekend role supporting a vibrant and adventurous 15-year-old!

Nearest Tube/Station: Gloucester
Wage/Salary: £17.00 Gross Per Hour
Driver Essential? Yes, training can be provided to drive client’s automatic WAV
Essential: Enthusiasm, Outgoing personality, patience and willingness to support a young person with additional needs
Desirable: Experience supporting a young person with a physical disability and specialist equipment such as hoists would be useful. Interest or prior experience carrying out therapy programmes. Non-smoker.
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Family can offer 2 shifts per month, either Saturday or Sunday during term time. Typical shift times are 9:00am to 5:00pm or 10:00am to 7:00pm. Extra shifts are available during the school holidays, to be agreed together.

About this client/child: Cody is a bright, energetic, and sociable 15-year-old who loves adventure and being out and about. Whether it’s swimming, accessible sports, going to the theatre, or exploring new places, Cody is always up for something fun. He has cerebral palsy and requires support with all aspects of daily living, including personal care and accessing leisure activities. Cody is a confident wheelchair user and thrives on an active, engaging lifestyle.

Overview of role: We are looking for a Personal Assistant (PA) / Buddy who can facilitate Cody’s active schedule and assist him with the activities he loves to do. This will include activities away from the family home, some of which Cody will be supported on a 2:1 basis.  You will need to be proactive in relation to identifying new activities and experiences for him to do. Whilst prior experience supporting a young person with a physical disability will be useful, full training will be provided, so having the right approach and personality is key!
