£44,096.00 gross per annum. Full Time Male Buddy/ Support worker – great position for sporty, energetic and confident male Buddy to support Oliver, 16 who is autistic

 

 

 

 

Title: Full Time *Male Buddy | Ealing, W5
Location: Ealing Common, W5
Nearest Tube: Ealing Common
Wage: £44,096.00 gross per annum
Driver required? Preferable
Use of a car? On duty
Essential: Supporting a young person with Autism, managing challenging behavior, excellent communication skills
Start Date: End of April/ May 2019
Days & Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00am – 6.00pm, alternate Saturday 9.00am – 3.00pm


Oliver is a charming and energetic 16-year-old. He enjoys football, tennis, playing piano and keeping active. Oliver is autistic and has communication difficulties. He has limited verbal communication, and while he can express his needs, likes and dislikes, he needs encouragement to use his language more effectively.  Although Oliver is normally happy and affectionate, when frustrated he can present with challenging behaviour; he can pinch or pull hair. You’ll need to be fit, strong and experienced with recognising triggers, deescalating and managing challenging behaviour.

Oliver has recently moved to London from the USA and he will be starting a new school. Your role will be assisting a smooth school transition, ensuring Oliver feels safe and happy there. You’ll support him during his after-school routine; assisting with personal care, having dinner, playing sport and accessing activities. There is an opportunity to travel with Oliver, valid passport needed!

You will need extensive experience with young people of a similar age group, or young adults with autism and communication difficulties. The main goal is to help Oliver settle in his new life and improve his social and communication skills.  This exciting position will suit a confident, energetic and calm Buddy who will support Oliver to reach his full potential.

*Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for a male worker to work with our client.
