Andrew aged 6 is a bright, sweet, loving and lovable child who adores dinosaurs, sea creatures, photography and art. His 8 year old sister Alexa is a very easy going and sociable girl who enjoys trampolining and drama. Andrew is autistic (high functioning) and has ADHD. He struggles with emotional regulation and can become quite chaotic and cross when his needs are not being met. Someone who understands Andrew’s sensory and organisational difficulties and is able to keep him in the green zone as much as possible will be key.

This role focuses on after school support which will include picking both children up from school, preparing dinner, supporting with homework and bath/bedtime routines. Mum is a stay at home mum and is looking for someone to work alongside her to focus on one child, whilst she spends quality time with the other. Structure, clarity and routine is really important for Andrew, so someone who can offer help and ideas around this would be a blessing. Alexa can at times find the situation at home tricky and can become anxious, so someone who can give her that extra time and attention is really important too.

This job will suit someone who has good experience with autism, a calm, patient approach and is happy to work closely with mum so both children’s needs are being met. You must also have lots of stamina as Andrew can be very energetic!

This is a great opportunity to make a huge impact on family life and in turn support both children with their future development.
