Lewis, 6 is a kind, playful boy, with a strong imagination. He likes Lego, drawing, making up stories and reading. Lewis has been diagnosed with Autism and has been recently affected by the separation of his parents. His brother Angus is 4 and enjoys physical games and songs. Angus is non-verbal, has no sense of danger and likes to climb and run very fast; you will need to vigilant and quick on your feet! Angus enjoys dressing up and putting together outfits, playing and hearing music, blocks, puzzles, physical games, climbing, jumping, and sensory activities.
Your role will be to assist mum with the children and with the general light housekeeping and cooking relating to the children. You’ll help organize playdates and fun activities and engage with the children using speech and language therapy tools. The boys are spending 6 hours on the alternate weekends with their father. During this period, you’ll cook meals, (to be eaten for dinner and to be frozen to be eaten later in the week), tidy, wash the children’s clothes, order toys or shopping. This is a job share position for 2 people working alternate weekends.
You will have excellent command of English, have potty training experience and great understanding of autism and behavioural management. You will have an opportunity to join the family on an occasional weekend in the countryside, flexibility is essential.
This is a very rewarding position for a patient, confident and proactive nanny with a genuine interest in supporting children with autism.
