Snap Care began with one family, one child and a belief that the right support can open up a world of possibilities.

Where it began · 2001

It began with Camilla.
And a determination to find the right support.

Andrew Knight’s daughter, Camilla, has cerebral palsy. As her father, Andrew knew just how much it matters to find someone who sees the person beyond their support needs: someone who brings skill and kindness, but also curiosity, commitment and a belief in what is possible.

In 2001, Andrew and Sally Britton founded Snap Care together. Sally had worked with children with disabilities and additional needs for many years, including as an SEN nanny. Andrew brought a parent’s perspective.

Between them, they understood both sides of a relationship that has to be built on trust, understanding and a genuine commitment to the person being supported.

Why we started

Care is only the beginning.

We wanted families and clients to meet SEN nannies and support workers who would do more than meet essential care needs. The right person can help someone build confidence, grow in independence, take part in the things they love and have more opportunities in everyday life.

That takes a particular kind of commitment. We look for people who choose this work because they want to support children, young people and adults with disabilities and additional needs, and who understand the importance of the relationship they are joining.

This work deserves to be a vocation, not simply a stepping stone to another job.

What guides us today

Camilla still sets the standard for the support we hope every person can experience.

Every child and every client is an individual, with their own interests, ambitions and way of being in the world. We want the people we introduce to recognise that individuality and help each person realise their potential and make the most of their opportunities.
