About this client/child: We have had the pleasure of working with Seb since he was just a tot, he is now 14 years old and lives with his Mum, Dad, and siblings in Camberwell. He is a bright, witty, and engaging young man, with a great sense of humour! Seb loves being around people, having books read to him, and visiting art galleries and museums. Seb has Cerebral Palsy, a Developmental Delay and receives his nutrition, fluid, and medication via a PEG. To support his communication his uses Eye Gaze technology. He is a wheelchair user and is dependent on others for all his physical and personal care needs. His house is fully adapted to meet all of his needs and he is supported at home, and in school by his team of dedicated support workers, waking night carers and therapists.
Overview of role: This role is to support Seb after school with all aspects of his care plan, he typically arrives home before 4.30pm on school transport. The afternoon routine is busy! The SEN Support Worker will assist Seb with his personal care needs, administer feeds and medication, support him with his homework and implement his therapy programmes, devised by his treating therapist. After these tasks are completed, Seb will very much like his SEN Support Worker to play games with him, support him to participate in fun activities (his siblings may want to join in on the fun!) A full handover will then be completed with Seb’s night care team. During the school holidays, there will be more time for enjoyable outings such as visits to museums and art galleries. Additional hours worked will be paid at the hourly rate, including admin hours.
Who this job would suit: This role will suit a confident, energetic, and positive SEN Support Worker. A driver is essential for activities during the school holidays be a driver for activities during the school holidays (experience driving an adapted vehicle is not essential as Seb’s parents will give you guidance/practice). This is a permanent role so it will suit someone looking for a secure long-term job with the opportunity to progress into the team leader.
What’s great about this job: You will be part of a great home care team; some team members have been with Seb for several years. Excellent career opportunities to progress to a team leader position. Potential UK and International travel to accompany the family on holiday. Fully adapted house, client-specific training and support.
