Zach loves swimming in his pool, listening to music and stories, sensory play and being outdoors; no matter the weather, he will always want to go out for a walk. His All-Terrain wheelchair is arriving soon; there will be no stopping his outdoor adventures. Zach has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy (VNS in situ), Global Development Delay, Dystonia, Osteopenia, and is registered blind. He receives his medication via a PEG and enjoys a soft/blended diet orally – he absolutely loves his food! At school he sometimes uses Eye Gaze. Zach’s family home is fully adapted to meet all his needs, including ceiling track hoists.

Overview of role: Zach’s SEN Support Worker will continually promote his independence, advocate for him, and enable him to access the world around him and participate in all aspects of family, and daily life. Zach is dependent on others to meet all his health, care, medical needs, and his ADLs. During the day you will work alongside a team member, supporting Zach to get ready for school, in the afternoon, assisting with therapy, or extra-curricular activities – he has a busy schedule! During a waking night shift, Zach likes to have his own space, and a video monitor is in place to alert you as and when he requires support. A staff room with kitchenette is provided. Weekends and School Holidays there is lots of scope to plan activities and arrange trips. The rota is provided in 4 weeks advance and will consist of a mixture of day and night shifts. When Zach is at school, and if you are on shift you are paid a £20.00 retainer in addition to the day rate.
