Overview:

Job Title: Part-Time Support Worker
Location: Exeter, EX5
Nearest Tube or Train Station: Exeter St David’s
Wage / Salary: £10.00 gross per hour
Driver required? Essential          
Use of a car? Yes, on duty, but will need own car to get to family home. 
Essential Experience: Experience working with children. Inquisitiveness and enthusiasm essential.
Start Date: ASAP                                             
Days and Hours: Term-Time, Week 1: Monday and Tuesday 06.45 am to 12.00pm and Wednesday 3.45pm to 9.00pm
Week 2: Monday and Tuesday 06.45 am to 12.00pm and Friday 3.45pm to 9.00pm
Alternate Saturday or Sunday 9.00am to 6.30pm
School Holidays: 20 to 22 hours per week to be mutually agreed.

Elliott who is 12 years old has a wide range of interests, including French, piano, horse riding and cycling. He has also written his first piece of music! Elliott has cerebral palsy and requires assistance for his physical and care needs. Elliott is surrounded by a loving family, including two younger siblings; Alex aged 8 and Lara who is 4. Alex is an adventurous boy and can sometimes be found in the garden building fires. Lara is a delightful, inquisitive little girl, who loves The Octonauts.

Elliott currently attends secondary school, three full days plus two afternoons a week, although this may increase to full days in the future.  Afternoons are busy; Elliott requires lots of physio input, he may have to, on certain weeks attend various medical appointments and of course lots of interesting outings such as horse riding. He also does curriculum work set by the National Association for Child Development. Team members will have the opportunity to watch videos to learn about the curriculum and implement it with Elliott. Elliott communicates through facial expression, communication boards and a liberator.

This role would suit a candidate who has a genuine passion for working with children, and is interested in promoting independence. The ideal candidate will be able to keep up with Elliott, have excellent English and also a great sense of humour! Although this position is primarily to care for Elliott the carer will also spend time with Alex and Lara and muck in where needed. This position includes all nursery duties.  The family live in a wonderfully adapted and extremely organised house that is fully equipped for all of Elliott's needs and for busy family life.
