Thomas is an affectionate and happy 4-year-old who loves numbers, trains and cars, reading stories, going to the playground and travelling on public transport. Thomas was diagnosed with Autism a year ago. He is verbal and his language is developing, although he remains some way behind the average for his age-group. Nevertheless, he is learning to read at school using the Phonics system. His large motor coordination needs development but we are working on him starting to write.
Thomas’s autism also presents in difficulties in engaging socially, particularly with his peers. Again, he has made progress in recent months and is also receiving help with this at school but this is an area where we are looking for experience.
We are looking for a level headed and organised SEN nanny who can build a caring relationship with Thomas. You will need extensive experience with children with ASD and be able to implement your skills into the daily routine to focus on Thomas's development of his social and verbal skills and be confident to introduce new strategies.
You will assist with light housework, nursery duties and preparing nutritious meals. Thomas is not fully toilet-trained yet and you will be able to support this. You will organise stimulating activities and trips for Thomas, including things such as swimming, visits to local parks etc. Liaising with his parents and teachers will be especially important.
This exciting position will suit a competent, energetic and kind SEN Nanny. Someone who can multi-task, ‘pitch in’ as and when needed and celebrate Thomas’s milestones with his family. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background in Psychology, SALT or Occupational therapy. This is a very rewarding role to work with this fantastic family and ensuring that Thomas is reaching his full potential.
Please note, whilst Snap endeavour to reply to all applications, some of our positions are so popular this is not possible and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
