Essential Qualifications: Occupational therapy, speech therapy (or an SEN / ABA qualification, plus extensive experience)
Essential: Experience supporting children with autism, complex behavioural needs and delayed speech
Start Date: ASAP for 1 year contract which can be extended
Days & Hours: Sunday – Thursday Term time 1.30 pm – 8:00 pm. School holidays 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.
Khaled is an affectionate, sweet and smart 5-year-old who loves to read and learn new things. Khaled attends a mainstream school and his academic abilities are very advanced for his age. Khaled has a diagnosis of with autism, speech delay and processing sensory disorder. He is very sensitive to certain noises like children crying or echoing sounds which can lead to meltdowns and oppositional behaviour. Khaled is unaware of his safety and has difficulties with his gross and fine motor skills.
We are looking for an experienced, engaging and passionate therapist who can provide fantastic support for Khaled within the home environment. You will need extensive, professional experience with children with ASD and speech delay. Khaled is verbal and has good vocabulary, however he is not using his speech functionally and needs to be prompted to complete sentences. Working alongside other professionals, you will create a therapy programme to address his developmental and behavioural needs which will be implemented intensively into the daily routine. The main focus will be to help Khaled to improve his speech, develop his self-help, independence and social / emotional skills.
