About this client/child:
Tom and his family are well known to Snap; we are incredibly privileged in knowing Tom since he was just a wee boy of 7 years. Tom is now 22 and attends college full time. He is surrounded by his rather fabulous family including his two younger fiercely supportive sisters. Tom has complex medical needs; he is registered blind, has severe epilepsy, is non-verbal, requires support with all his personal care, and has a JEG/PEG tube in place. He has moderate learning difficulties and challenges with communication but good understanding of the world. He has nebulisers and chest physio in the morning and evening.

Overview of role:
Tom breaks up for the summer at the end of July. You will be required to work at both the family home in Pinner and on holiday in Devon on the following dates:

26th to 30th July (Pinner)                            2nd to 6th August (Pinner)

7th to 14th August (Devon)                        30th August to 3rd September (Pinner)

Weekdays, £18.00 gross per hour. Weekends, £20.00 gross per hour. Whilst in London hours of work will be, 08.30am to 6/6.30pm

This is a full on, but fantastic role. Tom has hoists and changing table in his room with an elevator to the kitchen. It will be all hands-on deck; 2-1 moving and handling with dad when accompanying the family to Devon. Tom has a fab 3-wheeler off road wheelchair with extra-large wheels for getting into the sea there will also be lots of great nature filled days, so you will need to be fit and a big lover of the outdoors. There may also be days (at home in Pinner) when Tom just wants to chill, or weather permitting, when he will want to take his dog out to the park (Pinner has lovely green areas to walk through), or to the coffee shop. Tom will let you know how he is feeling and what he wants to do.

Who this job would suit:
This role would suit someone who is studying, looking for extra holiday hours. Potential for ongoing work as part of the team supporting Tom during holidays and some weekends.

What’s great about this job:
Tom is what is brilliant about this job. He is incredibly kind, gentle, and patient. And he likes a laugh! You will work hard but it’ll be worth it, to see Tom have a special summer.
