Location: Cambridge CB1
Wage / Salary: £25,000.00 gross per annum
Driver required? Essential
Use of a car? On duty and weekends when not needed.
Desired Experience: Autism, challenging behavior
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: up to 40 hours per week including 1 or 2 sleep overs per week. 1 Saturday or Sunday per month. Occasional Sundays.

Ollie is a bright, intelligent and sensitive chap who lives in his own home in Cambridge, supported by a small team. Ollie is 33 and loves music, books and keeping active. Ollie has autism and very well-controlled epilepsy.

This role is about supporting Ollie to live a fulfilling life and to engage in activities such as walking, cycling, and swimming or rollerblading. Your role will be to motivate and encourage Ollie to take part. Ollie manages his behavior well but with occasional outbursts of frustration. He is not physically aggressive but can harm himself on these occasions. You will support Ollie by helping to maintain a calm and happy environment.

This job will suit a motivated, active and proactive support worker with experience of working with an adult with additional needs. You will be motivational, but not pushy and understand the importance of interacting with Ollie in an age appropriate way. Ollie does not eat junk food, so a confident cook who understands the benefit of a balanced and healthy diet is key. Ollie loves to work on his cognitive and speech and language skills, so a candidate with experience and interest in these areas would be advantageous.

This role offers a varied and interesting work day pattern and the opportunity to work with Ollie who is a real charmer.
