About this client/child: Thomas is 21 years old. Snap Care has had the privilege of knowing Thomas and his family since he was a wee boy. You will be joining his small and friendly team, along with his loving parents, who are part of his support team.  Thomas has a fantastic, adapted part of the house and a lovely sensory garden for quiet days at home. Thomas is sensitive to sensory input, so his part of the house has gentle lighting and constant white noise, or calming music played throughout the day and night. Thomas attends an SEN college where he is supported with his independence skills, such as initiating instructions using his Eye Gaze communication device. He is supported by this dedicated care team 24/7, on a 2-1 basis. If the weather is fine, trips are organised and Thomas is encouraged to decide where he would like to go. Thomas has Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay, and acute sensory Epilepsy. He receives medication via his PEG. He has a PICC line where he receives his TPN (nutrition), which only his parents are responsible for. He is a full-time wheelchair user.

Overview of role: As Thomas’s support worker, you and another member of his team will support him both at home and at his college. Ben requires assistance with all his needs, including personal care needs. You’ll help guide Thomas to make choices using his Eye Gaze.  Bespoke care plans and established routines are in place and comprehensive training is provided to ensure Thomas receives the best care. The rota covers 7 days/nights and is written up a month in advance, in addition, there are also waking night shifts available.

Who this role would suit: This is a busy role so you will come with resourcefulness and vivacity. This role will particularly suit someone looking to develop long-term goals within a support worker role.

What’s great about this job: Excellent bespoke training is provided in all areas of Thomas’s very specific care. Ongoing support and supervision from Thomas’s Case Manager and team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop new and valuable skills.  Thomas is a wonderful, gentle young man who deserves 100% unwavering support to enable him to live an enriched life.

Who is recruiting for this role?  Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews.

Please note: *Where a specific gender is stated as essential, gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance to paragraph 1, of schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for female or male worker to work with our client.
