About this client/child: Phoebe (18) is a lovely young lady who loves everything pink, glittery and all things music and dance! Phoebe lives with her parents, younger siblings, and two very loving dogs (Labrador and Labradoodle) in Hildenborough. Phoebe has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, complex care medical needs, epilepsy, is non-verbal, and has a visual impairment. All medication and fluids are administered via a PEG, she is oxygen-dependent overnight, and requires occasional suctioning. Phoebe is currently attending a specialist education setting and plans are in place for her to attend a day setting community-based placement next year. Phoebe’s home is fully adapted and she had her own area (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and therapy room) in her family home. Phoebe has a care team in place providing round-the-clock support and there is an opening for two full-time carers to join her team. All training for new team members is provided.
Overview of role: Your role will be to provide holistic support to Phoebe in all aspects of her health, care, and medical needs. The waking night shift starts at 6.45pm with a full handover. You will assist Phoebe with her evening and bedtime routine, once settled you will continually monitor Phoebe throughout the night, tending to all her needs and complete any paperwork/reports from the shift. There is a carer’s room with a comfortable chair and desk. There is the opportunity to travel with the family to support Phoebe on her summer holidays - valid Passport, please! Training is provided in all aspects of Phoebe’s care plan, whilst previous experience supporting a young person with additional needs is an advantage, it is not essential. The successful waking night carer will be working a mixture of weekdays and weekends, however, you will not be expected to work every weekend. We will try to accommodate your availability.
