About this client/child: Owen (5) is a sweet and loving boy, who currently attends nursery. He absolutely loves going to nursery, and he will be starting Reception at a private school in Clapham, in September, which is attached to his current nursery. Owen adores anything musical and loves to sing and dance. He also enjoys spending time outside, climbing in the playground, sports, puzzles, and books. Owen does not like feeling overwhelmed by being asked lots of questions without being given time to respond. Owen has a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Global Development Delay (GDD). We are recruiting a new Learning Support Assistant, to support Owen through each school day.

Overview of role: Days start at 08.45am, where you will meet Owen at school, and support him throughout the school day, until home time at 3.30pm (2.30pm on Fridays), when he will be collected. Owen has really been enjoying his time at nursery, and with calm and focused support from his new, 1-1 LSA, he will thoroughly enjoy his time in reception too. Owen will need support and encouragement to stay focused on his work, and his new LSA will be skilled and experienced to support this. Owen’s new LSA will be focused solely on him, so there is ample time and opportunity to really get to know Owen and support him in the best way possible. Owen will benefit hugely from someone who can encourage his peer-to-peer engagement at playtimes, supporting his social and emotional development. At lunch time, Owen will need positive prompting and perhaps some occasional support with eating, though he has made excellent progress with mealtimes, and facilitating his independence around eating is the focus. There will be time during the school day for Owen’s LSA to have a break too. This role is term-time only, for 33 weeks a year.

Who this job would suit: This job will suit someone who has been working as a 1-1, LSA within a school, with experience supporting children on the Autistic Spectrum. Someone calm, patient, focused and kind, who has a good understanding of speech and language and occupational therapies. You will be a native English speaker, or fluent in English, with clear dialect.

What’s great about this job: This is an amazing, term time only role, supporting a wonderful boy. It’s a fantastic opportunity to support Owen’s ongoing learning, social, emotional and language development, whilst working in a lovely school.

Who is recruiting for this role? Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews.
