About this client: Harry is 17 years old, he lives at home with his Mum, Dad, and two younger sisters. Harry is a highly intelligent, outgoing, and charming young man. He has a wide range of interests and hobbies, including listening to music, writing poetry, baking, and attending church and enjoying church activities. He is an extremely articulate young man and uses a spelling board (in the most incredible way) to communicate. Due to a traumatic birth, Harry sustained Global Brain Damage. As a result, he has complex medical needs and requires assistance with all areas of personal and self-care, has a gastrostomy PEG and is dependent on a ventilator during the night.

Overview of role: Harry requires 2:1 support. You will support Harry at school and at home. He is currently studying for A levels and is due to start a university degree next September. Harry is looking for someone to be his communication partner, to help with his studies as well as fulfill his care needs. The ability to feel comfortable with A-level English and/or University creative writing is required. This role offers 40 hours per week, working a mix of full days, afternoons, and weekends. The rota is agreed a month in advance and preferred days to work/not work are accommodated where possible. You’ll also support Harry on trips away and provide some occasional waking night support. It’s a busy household and the family and Harry need a Support Worker who is willing to muck in as and when required with all tasks but also knows when to step back to allow the family quality time together.

Who this job would suit: It is essential that you are a confident driver as Harry has a large automatic vehicle and is a non-smoker/vaper. The Support Worker will be fun, positive, engaging, reliable and willing to make a long-term commitment to this role. You’ll be sensitive about what it means to work within a family environment.

What’s great about this job:
Harry is a truly remarkable young man. Excellent rate of pay that acknowledges the need for flexibility and continuity. Excellent training in all aspects of Harry’s care, therapy, and medical needs. This is a unique opportunity and the lucky candidate who is offered this role will be joining a great team, supporting a wonderful family, and gaining lots of new skills.
