Days & Hours: Term-time: Monday, Thursday and Friday, 4.00pm to 9.00pm. School Holidays: Days available: Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 8.00pm.

About this client/child: Adam is 10 years old, living in Romford with his Mummy, Daddy, and younger brother. Adam has a long list of hobbies and interests, including dancing, swimming, playing with his toy vehicles, (especially tractors), video games, watching Disney movies, learning about animals; this list is not exhaustive! It is safe to say Adam loves life and is full of energy and fun. Adam has Cerebral Palsy and ADHD, he is mobile, only using a wheelchair for longer distances. He is an extremely capable young chap and is excited for his SEN Support Worker to assist him with his independence skills. Adam uses an iPad, sounds and gestures to support his verbal communication, he is specially making great progress with his communication using his iPad, a path Mum and Dad are keen to continue to develop.
Overview of role: Adam’s new SEN Support Worker will provide afterschool supporting, and once a relationship is built up, the role will be to establish an afterschool routine, support Adam with his self-help skills, continually promote his independence, implement his therapy programme (with guidance and training by his therapist), support with personal care and toilet training, plan fun and educational activities whilst supporting Adam’s overall development. Adam requires 2:1 support when out in the community, this will be provided by his parent or another team member. During the school holidays, Adam’s Mum and Dad plan activities and although the usual role and responsibilities will be the same, there is more scope to plan outings so Adam can really enjoy the holidays. Who this job would suit: A proactive, enthusiastic, patient, and confident SEN Support Worker. You do not have to come from a Nannying background; the most important experience for this role is that you have previously supported a young person with ADHD and have excellent childcare experience.
