About this client/child: Leah (12) lives at home with her Mum, Dad, 2 younger brothers (11 and 4) and 4 pets! Leah enjoys gaming, baking, attending school and her Drama group. Her brothers love gaming, chilling out with some TV, riding their bikes, and playing outside. This is a loving and busy household where there is always something going on. The family live in a beautiful home and there is a town and park within walking distance, so there are always things to do. Leah has Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy that affects her voluntary movements, and she uses a Power Chair and requires a hoist for any transfers. Full training will be provided to support Leah with all aspects of her personal care and transfers including the use of hoists.

Overview of role: This is a fantastic opportunity for a Junior SEN Nanny to gain experience supporting a young person with a physical disability. Days start at 4.00pm, and the family will need someone with initiative and confidence to support with the after-school routine. Mum would love someone that can be her extra pair of hands, and support her with all things child related, whether that be getting the dinner on, playing Lego with the boys, supporting Leah to eat a meal, helping out with homework, or playing with the youngest child. This really is a role that requires someone who will muck in and help as and when needed, with one or more children. If working a full day during school holidays, the Junior SEN Nanny might take Leah to the Cinema, or spend the day at the farm or soft play with the youngest child, or even a trip into London with Leah’s 11-year-old brother; being flexible and pro-active is an essential part of this role. Mum is happy to provide training in all areas of Leah’s care, from hoisting and manual handling, to providing personal care. It’s a fantastic opportunity to gain new skills in these areas.

Who this job would suit: This role will suit someone who is looking for their first role within SEN. Perhaps someone who has experience supporting or caring for children as a mainstream Nanny, or as a babysitter, who would love the opportunity to learn skills in supporting someone with a physical disability.

What’s great about this job: Fantastic training opportunities provided. Opportunity to be part of this loving household and support the on-going development of all three children. Potential to go along
on family holidays in the UK (mutually agreed)

Who is recruiting for this role? Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews.

Please note: *Where a specific gender is stated as essential, gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance to paragraph 1, of schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 for female or male worker to work with our client.
