About this client/child: Conor is 5 years old and lives at home with his wonderful parents and his big brother. He is an energetic, engaging, happy young chap with a love for learning, story time, trips to the park in his buggy, and all things transport, especially cars! Conor has Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy, and as a result he requires 2:1 support 24/7. He strives for his independence and with the support of his therapy and care team, he is making excellent progress. Conor loves to chat, and his expressive communication has come on leaps and bounds, he is also super quick crawling and rolling; and with support and supervision he can sit for short periods of time. Conor needs support with his behaviour management and self-regulation. His family home is fully adapted to meet all his needs, including ceiling track hoists, a therapy room, and specialistic equipment including a standing frame. Conor’s care team is growing, and he now requires an experienced Care Team Leader / Manager to come on board.

Overview of role: The team provides 2:1 support, day and night, which includes a waking night and sleeping carer. The Care Team Leader will have the opportunity to provide hands on support to Conor and be responsible for managing and leading a large care team; fostering a supportive ethos and ensuring all aspects of Conor’s care plan are regularly reviewed, remain current and are implemented consistently. Admin hours are set aside each week to enable you to complete administrative tasks such as updating care plans, completing staff supervisions/ appraisals, monthly team meetings, induction of new staff, managing stocks (general supplies and medication), organising medical and therapy appointments. The typical shift pattern is Monday to Friday 3.00pm – 9.00pm and includes a sleeping shift 9.00pm – 6.00am and from 6.00am – 10.00am to assist with the morning routine; this is a 16-hour shift. The weekend and school holiday shift is 12 hours, starting at 9.00am. Outside of the core contact hours you have on average 7 hours per week to complete team lead duties, on site or remotely. Who this job would suit: An experienced Care Team Leader with a keen interest in therapy and rehabilitation and previous experience supporting a client with behavioural and anxiety.
