Assistant Team Leader role in Shoreham on Sea, BN43, for a vibrant, experienced ATL to support Harry, 31 years old who has a Traumatic Brain Injury. £20.00 to £22.00 gross per hour.

Wage/Salary: £20.00 to £22.00 gross per hour / £30,000 + gross per annum
Driver Essential? Yes, adapted vehicle provided when on duty
Essential: Professional experience assisting in coordinating a care team and supporting clients with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Confident supporting a person with physical disabilities. Confident swimmer.  Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
Desirable: Previous experience working within a home care environment
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: 36 hours per week.
This position will involve working a mixture of shifts, including days, weekends and sleeping in nights. See below for more details

About this client: Harry is 31 years old and lives in his own fully adapted home, independent of his family. He has a team of 12 support workers supporting him on a 2-1 basis, 24/7. Harry really enjoys pursuits, such as swimming, bowling, and going to the cinema. He has recently started boxing classes. At home he enjoys watching TV, doing Math quizzes, cooking, and washing up. Harry sustained a traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) when he was younger, which resulted in life-changing injuries, complex cognitive and physical impairments, limited verbal, and no written communication. He exhibits behaviours that may challenge, reduced short-term memory and orientation, reduced vision, complex tonal issues - predominately low tone with dystonic patterning. Harry can become very frustrated when unable to get across his needs and feelings. However, he also has a cheeky personality and really enjoys interaction with his team. He requires support with eating and drinking, all personal care, and is a wheelchair user. There will be more detailed information given if you are shortlisted for this role.

Overview of role: Harry requires an experienced Assistant Care Team Leader with TBI knowledge to lead, support, supervise and manage his care team, liaise with all MDT professionals, Team Leader and working closely with the case manager. You will assist and work closely with the Team Leader in supervisions, appraisals, training, updating medication charts, arranging therapy and medical appointments, and managing stock.  You’ll ensure Harry’s needs are being met to a high standard, his independence is always being promoted, and ensure the smooth running of a 24-hour care team. This position will involve working a mixture of shifts, including days, weekends and sleeping in nights. 4 hours, onsite administrative duties. 32 contact hours. Hours are scheduled on a 4-week Rota. 08.00 am to 8.00pm /08.00 am to 4.00 pm. There is a desk and printer on site for your admin duties.

Who this job would suit: Someone who has previously supported a large care team. Knowledge of and experience supporting a client with a TBI, and it is highly desirable to have previously worked within a family environment. This role will suit a high energy, proactive, motivational Assistant Team Leader. Harry is the team’s priority; however, you are also there to support your team, steering them to the continued high standard of care Harry deserves. You will bring creative ideas regarding community outings, for Harry to choose. You will be thoughtful, sensitive, and consistent in your approach to your team and importantly to Harry.
