The Role at a Glance This is a varied and rewarding role supporting Theo after school and at weekends, helping him transition from school, engage in his favourite activities, and remain safe and regulated through calm, consistent routines. The role includes support with after-school routines, meals, personal care, and a range of indoor and outdoor activities such as swimming, outdoor play, sensory activities and community outings. Close supervision is required at all times, particularly in kitchens, bathrooms and community settings, as Theo can become unsettled if unwell, uncomfortable or overwhelmed. Weekend hours are planned in advance to support predictability and work–life balance. Theo sleeps through the night, so overnight disturbance is unlikely. Both parents are doctors and may have occasional on-call commitments; any flexibility required is always agreed in advance. About the Client/Child Lucas, 7.5 years old, is an affectionate and energetic little boy who lives with his mum dad and older sister Sara, 11. Lucas is physically strong and active; he enjoys trampolining, swimming and visiting local parks. He also enjoys coffee shops, books, characters, audio stories and TV shows. Lucas is autistic and non-verbal, with developmental delay. He attends a specialist SEN school with full time 1:1 support. He receives both speech and language therapy (SALT) and occupational therapy (OT) as part of his education. To support his communication, Lucas uses an AAC device (Proloquo) on his iPad. He needs assistance modelling how to express his wants and needs. Lucas loves his food; he requires support to feed himself. He also requires prompting and support when using the bathroom. Lucas was very recently diagnosed with Epilepsy so is being supported with medication twice daily.

The Role at a glance Lucas’s weekend SEN Nanny/Manny will support him in the activities he enjoys. Weekends are split between London and the family’s Kent home, including swimming lessons, trampoline parks and trips to local playgrounds. The role includes driving him to activities and providing attentive supervision throughout. At times, the SEN Nanny will have sole charge of Lucas, while at other times, the role will involve shared experiences, such as family outings to the park. Weekend shifts provide opportunities for outings such as the zoo, trips to London, garden centres, cinema or bowling, as well as quieter time at home depending on Katie’s energy levels. About the Client/Child Bodhi (9) is an incredibly happy, caring and affectionate little boy with a wonderful sense of humour. He has a diagnosis of Dravet Syndrome, a rare genetic epilepsy, and has a developmental delay of approximately four years. Most of Bodhi’s seizures occur overnight (except when unwell) and self-resolve after around 30 seconds. Bodhi loves being active and engaged and enjoys a variety of activities including colouring, drawing, playing with cars, reading, swimming, tennis, board games and jigsaw puzzles. He is a big fan of Toy Story, Cars and music, and especially enjoys being given little jobs to complete, taking great pride in achieving things independently. Bodhi also has a younger sister, Rose, aged 7, who is a typical girly girl with a kind and caring nature. She adores her big brother and loves helping him whenever she can. The siblings share a lovely bond, and while the role is primarily focused on Bodhi, there will naturally be opportunities to encourage and include both children during activities.

The Role at a Glance This is a rewarding role supporting Bodhi both at home and also as a 1:1 support to him throughout his school day during term time. The role begins at the family home, supporting Mum with the morning routine. You will then drive Bodhi to his village primary school (YO61 - approximately 30 minutes away) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (he has Wednesday’s off, and Mum will do drop off and pick up on Friday’s). You will provide dedicated 1:1 support, mainly ensuring his safety, but also helping him access learning, using visual supports, encouraging independence and supporting with healthcare needs, including epilepsy management, in line with his care plan. However, the school will lead on his education, and all training is provided. After school on those 3 days, you will bring Bodhi home for down time and dinner before Mum arrives home.  Daytime seizures are rare but do occur, particularly if he is unwell. They resolve within 30 seconds to one minute with little intervention apart from creating a safe space; there is an epilepsy care plan to follow.

Overview of role: Sue requires waking night support to ensure her safety, wellbeing, and comfort overnight. This includes close in-person observation and video monitoring due to seizure activity, supporting epilepsy management, and responding appropriately if intervention is required. The role also includes supporting good sleep hygiene and routines, assisting with personal care as needed, manual handling support (including verbal prompts and light touch guidance), and support with eating and drinking where required, including light food and drink preparation. You will also administer medication as required, complete light household tasks, maintain accurate daily records, and provide a clear handover to daytime staff. The role is based within a welcoming family home where a dedicated carers room is available downstairs, along with access to a WC and family kitchen facilities.

About this client: Amy, 41, enjoys cross-stitch, online shopping and collecting Jellycats. Amy has complex medical conditions including Ehlers Danlos syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Disorder, Gastroparesis, non-epileptic seizures, PTSD and spinal instability. Her progressive condition affects her neurologically and it is likely she has an Acquired Brain Injury. She has fluctuating emotions that may involve uncontrolled temper, frustration, anxiety, and impatience. She has chronic and debilitating pain. Amy is mostly confined to her bed due to pain and/or exhaustion. Amy can currently transfer with just light support (no lifting). She requires support with personal care including a daily bed bath; she uses a commode.

Overview of role: You will provide 1:1 support for Amy during the day and night. During the night, Amy will require help if she has a seizure, or has another need such as requiring pain relief or having a drink replenished etc. The carer's bedroom is next to Amy's, with a buzzer to alert you. The night role is classed as an on-call night but varies each night; some nights you may be able to sleep all night, other nights, Amy will need support and/or have an extended seizure, these can last for several hours. Amy may need oxygen around 8.00am to 9.00am. She then typically sleeps until around 2:30pm, so you can catch up on your sleep if needed. At times, Amy will enjoy having a chat or playing some games with the support worker, a friend may visit or she may have an activity such as aromatherapy. In addition to Amy’s care, there are light household duties to attend to, such as her washing and ironing.

Who this job would suit: Someone who is friendly, calm, empathetic, emotionally robust, and positive. The Role at a Glance Your shift begins at 2.00 pm, preparing play activities and supper before collecting Ollie  from school in his wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV). Some days include extracurricular clubs or therapy sessions, all following a clear weekly schedule. A key element of the role is delivering Ollie ’s therapy and rehabilitation programme in a playful, motivating and imaginative way. The Role at a Glance This role is undertaken on a 2:1 basis alongside another SEN Support Worker, or as 1:1 support, with a parent present in the home. Weekday shifts usually start at 2.00 pm (10.00 am in school holidays/weekends), supporting preparation for David’s return home and daily routine, while weekends are more relaxed and paced around rest and activities. David has a fully adapted bedroom, bathroom, and playroom, where he chooses his daily “agenda” of games and activities. She works with a small therapy team and needs consistent support both at school and home to manage fatigue safely and develop positive peer relationships.

The Role at a Glance This hands-on role involves supporting Amy throughout her day, as well as providing practical and emotional support to her mum and siblings. Mornings focus on school/nursery routines for the three girls. Amy will be on a reduced timetable, attending school for academic mornings only, returning home around 12:30–1:00 pm for rest, therapies, and calm afternoon activities. The nanny will support Amy one-to-one during school time (subject to school agreement) and at home in the afternoons, attending therapy appointments and helping manage fatigue. The Role at a Glance Penny’s Support Worker/PA will provide 1:1 holistic support outside of school, including morning and afterschool routines, personal care, activities, social outings, and life admin. The role focuses on promoting independence and supporting Penny’s development in line with therapy goals, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. During school holidays, there is opportunity to plan activities, days out, and occasional travel abroad (expenses covered). We are looking for someone positive and proactive who can motivate Anna to try new activities and enjoy different experiences. Anna has a fantastic sense of humour, is very quick witted and loves making people laugh. Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys fun, playful conversation and brings lots of personality to those around her. Anna is a huge Taylor Swift fan and has even seen her live at the O2. She absolutely loves music and enjoys attending live shows, West End productions, music festivals and a variety of events. She is also a big foodie and regularly goes out for meals with her support workers and family. Anna is a big Disney fan and enjoys relaxing at home watching Disney films – especially Snow White and was supported by her staff last year on a trip to Disneyland Paris. Anna has cerebral palsy and learning disabilities. She uses an electric wheelchair and requires support with personal care, as well as moving and handling. Anna is verbal and prefers to communicate verbally, although it can take a little time to get used to her communication style while you are getting to know each other. She uses an AAC device at school but does not always use this at home. Anna can experience some anxieties, so it is important that new staff take things slowly and approach her gently while building a trusting relationship. Once Anna feels comfortable with you, she is warm, engaging and great fun to spend time with.

The Role at a Glance: This role involves assisting Anna with her daily activities, championing her independence, and engaging her in fun outings such as the festivals and concerts she loves to go to. On Friday evenings, Anna is usually tired and ready for bed between 9.00 and 10.00 pm. She requires support with her bedtime routine and settling for the night.  She sleeps well and usually doesn’t wake until 8:00–9:00 am. Throughout her treatment, she has remained a bright, engaged and playful little girl who simply enjoys being a one-year-old. Sarah is an active, fun-loving little girl who thrives alongside her sister.

The Role at a Glance: This rewarding part-time role centres around providing sole care for both twins across two days each week. The successful nanny will confidently manage the girls' shared routine while providing the additional support Jemima requires, including NG tube feeding and care related to her ongoing treatment, ensuring both children receive equal warmth, attention and opportunities to learn, play and thrive. On occasion, the nanny may also provide sole care for Sarah while Jemima attends hospital appointments with her parents. Community nurses visit the family home twice a week to provide Jemima's clinical care. During these visits, support includes preparing equipment, comforting Jemima, and supporting the nursing team while they carry out procedures. Full training, including NG tube feeding, will be provided. During the twins' afternoon nap, there is time for a lunch break and light child-related household duties. The family also have an older daughter, who is almost four years old. She currently attends nursery, so this role is dedicated entirely to the twins. The role is 2 days per week, 9.00am to 6.00pm, ideally Wednesday and Friday, although there is flexibility on the working days for the right candidate. About the Client/Child Oscar, aged 22, is a bright, engaging and determined young man with a wide range of interests. Prior to recent changes in his health, he enjoyed cycling, languages (with a particular passion for French), playing the piano, reading, and socialising with friends. Oscar has cerebral palsy and relies on full support for his daily needs. He is a wheelchair user and non-verbal. Following recent spinal surgery at C3 level, Oscar currently has very limited movement from the neck down. As a result, his care needs have increased significantly, and his communication is transitioning to the use of head switches. He is currently at Mardon rehabilitation centre in Exeter, where the initial training will be.  It is still early days in his recovery, and while the long-term outcome remains uncertain, Oscar and his family remain hopeful that he will regain some abilities over time. He is cognitively very aware and continues to engage with those around him. With the right support, there may be opportunities for him to return to some of the activities he enjoys, such as horse riding (with specialist support) and swimming, as his recovery progresses. Oscar has a PEG in place for nutritional support when required and is supported by a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team. This is a period of significant change and adjustment for both Oscar and his family.

The Role at a Glance As Oscar’s Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting him through this important stage of recovery and adjustment. Your role will involve providing full personal care, supporting his evolving communication needs, and ensuring he remains comfortable, engaged, and supported throughout his day. Oscar will currently be more passively involved, so your role will focus on facilitating meaningful interaction, promoting wellbeing, and supporting any activities in a way that is appropriate to his current abilities. You will work 1:1 with Oscar within the family home (where family members may be present), and at times alongside another Support Worker for outings, holidays, and when additional support is required. There is the option to work an additional Saturday each month, and further hours. Full training in all areas of Oscar’s care, including his updated clinical and communication needs, will be provided, along with ongoing support from the Team Leader and Oscar’s parents. The hourly rate offered is £17.00 on weekdays and £19.00 gross per hour on weekends. Following a successful six-month period in the role, the rate will increase to £18.00 on weekdays and £20.00 on weekends.

Snap Care has had the pleasure of recruiting for Elsie’s team for 5 years, with many of her team long-standing members! Elsie at times can become overwhelmed, which can cause some behaviours; there is a neuropsychologist currently putting strategies and plans to support Elsie and will train all members of her team.

The Role at a Glance
Working alongside another team member, your role will focus on supporting Elsie with all aspects of her ADLs, care plan, therapy programmes, medical needs etc. A typical morning will start with completing a handover with the night care team, finishing off her feed, and getting up, dressed, and out the door on time for school. Elsie’s SEN Support Workers drive her to school (30-minute drive), return home to the house, complete reports, a quick tidy around, and then your time is your own (study, gym, hobbies, life admin etc.) You will arrive back to collect the car at 2.00pm, complete the school pick up, and typically home for therapy, or off to an appointment or planned activity. Mum and Dad will be home from work to take over latest 5.30pm, where they enjoy family time, until the night care team arrives at 7.30pm.

He is non-verbal, communicating gestures and noises and can eat and drink with gentle support and encouragement.

The Role at a Glance This is a part-time SEN Support Worker role providing consistent after-school and weekend support for Danny and his family. The core hours are currently Monday and Thursday from 3.00 pm to 7. 00 pm, plus 6 hours on a Saturday, with the potential for hours to increase overtime. Danny’s *female support worker will be in the family home to meet Danny after his school transport drops him off, and will support his after-school routine, personal care, preparing teatime food and leisure activities at home and around his local neighbourhood. The family is moving within the following couple of months, to the Purley area.  It is exciting for Danny that his new garden will have an in-ground trampoline which he will be able to access safely himself. On a Saturday, Danny will usually be up and ready for his day ahead. When the weather is kind Danny loves to go his local trampoline park where he will stay for as long as he can – his new support worker will need to be active and fit! The Role at a Glance Emily has a full team of Support Workers providing 24/7 care, with just one position remaining to complete the team. As her Support Worker, you will assist with everyday tasks and personal care, including washing her clothes, towels, and bed linens, as well as managing all complex health needs and monitoring. You will help Emily get washed, dressed, and ready to start her day, and support her throughout her daily routine. Emily thrives with consistency, so it’s important that all complex care equipment is maintained and her personal hygiene and daily needs are met. She requires regular pressure relief, which must be factored into social activities, and Support Workers attend all events with her, providing monitoring and assistance day and night. Emily uses a SATs machine and ventilator, and waking night Support Workers must remain alert while she sleeps. There is a separate room with facilities for carers, allowing observation via an audio monitor. Hours: 3–4 shifts per week, 12 hours each: day 8:00am–8:00pm, waking night 8:00pm–8:00am.
