Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: 37 hours per week. Term time Monday to Friday: 3.30pm – 9.30pm | Weekends and school holidays: 8.00am – 8.30pm. Morning hours available also.
About this client/child:
Marcus is a very charming endearing child who is 10 years old and lives at home with his Mummy and younger brother Sam who is 7. Marcus also stays with his daddy two weekends a month and in the school holidays. Marcus has cerebral palsy, controlled epilepsy (with occasional absences), a visual impairment, severe developmental delay, and scoliosis. Marcus is non-verbal although he is currently learning how to use symbols and switches to support his communication. He is totally dependent on others to meet all his care needs requiring 2:1 support. His brother Sam has autism spectrum condition and you would be expected to work with both Marcus and Sam.
Overview of role:
Marcus requires full assistance; you’ll support him with all his developmental, therapy programs and personal care needs. You’ll plan fun and educational activities Marcus can enjoy both in the family home and out in the community as advised by his parents and therapists. This is a strong family unit and a busy family home with two young boys both with complex needs; it is essential you are can adapt to working with both Marcus and Sam and are inclusive in the support you provide to both boys.
Who this job would suit:
A fun, bubbly, confident and energetic support worker, who is flexible and adaptable. You must have experience supporting a young client with complex care needs and also be comfortable supporting a child in water during hydrotherapy sessions.
