Josh, 6, is a happy and outgoing young chap who loves getting out and about on day trips with his family, as well as having more relaxing story-time moments in his home. Josh has dystonic cerebral palsy; he is non-verbal, has his medication administered via PEG and uses a hoist. We are looking for a waking night carer to assist Josh on a rota basis.
The position will involve supporting Josh with his night routine, with his personal care needs and medication administration. The support worker will follow guidelines outlined by Josh’s parents, work in partnership with and support them to promote Josh’s independence. All aspects of Josh’s medication will be undertaken by the support worker, including administration via PEG, suctioning, keeping records and reporting any concerns to the family.
This role would suit confident, energetic and positive support worker who has experience working with young children with physical disabilities. Ideally you will have experience of Peg feeding and suctioning, but full training is provided by the family. Great opportunity to work with a charming young boy and continue his development.
