About this client/child: Matty, 30, a recent graduate from the Open University (Economics and Maths) lives independently in his family home with the support of his team which consists of a live-in carer and a team of ‘live out’ Support Workers / PAs providing round the clock, 2:1 support. Matty sustained a spinal injury and as a result, is quadriplegic, has a ventilator overnight which he is 100% reliant on, and a tracheostomy. To support his communication, Matty uses Eye Gaze technology. He is an intelligent, calm, and polite gentleman with a positive outlook on life and he is currently planning for his future since completing his degree. He is a hard-core Mix Martial Arts (MMA) fan and travels around the UK to attend live events and regularly watches fights on TV. He follows all things UFC. Matty likes down/quiet time and if he requires support or assistance, he will let you know. His team supports Matty in how he wishes to live and is there to support his medical and care needs.

Overview of role: The role will involve working alongside a team member, supporting Matty with his personal care, manual handling, repositioning, ADLs, and medical needs. Matty can direct you in terms of his care, and depending on what is planned for the day you could be working both in Matty’s home and out in the community. You do not need previous experience in this area of complex care; just a willingness to learn. Matty is seeking the right person to join his team, therefore can be flexible on shifts offered, based on your availability. Once working days have been agreed, these will be set shifts on a permanent basis.

You will be intuitive, fun and enjoy working within a family setting. The role is only open to a PA/Support Worker looking for a permanent position.
