Sam aged 4, loves being around people, being read to and listening to music. His sister Holly aged 7 is a real chatterbox and very outgoing. Sam has severe quadriplegic cerebral palsy and complex medical needs; he is totally dependent on others to provide all of his care needs. He is fed a blended diet and medicated through a Mic- key button and requires nasal and oral suctioning. Sam also requires catheterisation every 3-4 hours and has a daily bowel flush, and enema when required. He is starting a specialist school soon and is working very hard on his communication using eye pointing. He has severe dystonia so experience in moving and handling is beneficial. Whilst Sam is severely limited with his physical movements, he is very aware of the world around him and likes to be included in family time and especially loves playing with his big sister.
This role requires a person who is flexible, adaptable and able to get ‘stuck in'. Prior training will be given but all candidates must be competent in working with children with complex medical needs. Both parents will be on hand to help and answer any questions.
This role will suit someone who is fun loving, caring, but firm. You must be an excellent communicator for handovers and be capable of working on your own initiative. This is a wonderful position to support a fantastic, easy going and energetic young family.
Please note, whilst Snap endeavour to reply to all applications, some of our positions are so popular this is not possible and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
