Dominic, aged 8, has a great sense of humour and enjoys the odd ‘prank’. He loves video games, animals and metal detecting. Dominic has ADHD and his behaviour at times can challenge. Trust is extremely important for Dominic and once broken it is difficult to gain this back. Dominic isn’t currently attending school and his family will be considering the best home schooling options once the Support Worker is in place. The family will also be supported by a highly experience intervention consultant, well-known to Snap.
As Dominic’s SEN Support Worker, your role will be to support him through tailored interventions and to continuously promote his educational, social and emotional health. A key part of your role will be to integrate his home education; this will primarily be at home, but could also involve exploring the outside world. The majority of the morning hours will be similar to a school day but making sessions as creative and fun is highly encouraged. You will be responsible for organising and taking Dominic to various activities; having a positive and pro-active attitude is vital.
Due to this particular family’s circumstances we would particularly welcome applications from male candidates. This job will suit someone who has plenty of energy, is consistent, confident, and has a good sense of humour and playful nature, whilst understanding the importance of maintaining appropriate boundaries. You must be emotionally resilient and prepared to make a long-term commitment to the family (at least 1 – 2 years).
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on Dominic and in turn the wider needs of his family. As well as promoting his independence and encouraging his development you will also be unlocking Dominic’s full potential. The family is happy to offer this role as live-in and can offer the SEN Support Worker a very generous sized bedroom with en-suite. For more information please contact Rachael at Snap who has met this friendly family.
Please note, whilst Snap endeavour to reply to all applications, some of our positions are so popular this is not possible and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
