About this client/child:
Emma aged 16 is a fun-loving, bright and very social young lady who enjoys meeting people. She especially enjoys going to the park, seeing her friends, swimming, being read to and music. Emma has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and a visual impairment – this does not affect her enjoyment of books, television and trips to the cinema. She is a wheelchair user and requires full support with her personal care needs. Emma communicates through her PODD book but she can say ‘yes’ to very clear communication and support has always been focused around promoting her independence.

Overview of role:
We are seeking a caring, supportive and Support Worker to work with Emma during the February half-term week. Emma has a busy school life and needs some downtime in the school holidays. In the holidays it is very good to have a weekly routine in place, activities in the morning and afternoon. The family home has been adapted so Emma’s bedroom and wet room are all on the ground floor and a hoist is in place. Emma attends physio two afternoons a week which is a short drive away. Ideally, the family would like you to take Emma to these appointments, however, this is not essential.

Who this job would suit:
The ideal person will be outgoing, caring and someone will look for opportunities to include Emma in lots of activities. You should be confident in supporting a child with a physical disability as well as using hoists.

What’s great about this job:
This is a very warm and welcoming family well-known to Snap and you are sure to have a fun week with Emma whilst gaining invaluable experience.
