Title: Temporary Live-in Female* Support Worker
Location: Halstead, CO9
Nearest Train Station: Kelvedon or Colchester
Wage / Salary: £13.00 gross per hour weekdays | £15.00 gross per hour weekends
Driver required? Preferable
Use of a car? On duty
Essential or Desired Experience: Supporting an adult with additional needs / epilepsy
Start Date: Wednesday 17th January
End Date: Once a new care home has been secured for Jen, either end of this month or early Feb 2018.
Days & Hours: 10 to 12 hours per day, depending on what Jen and her family have planned, specific days to be agreed with family. Two week block and then 5 to 7 days off.
Jen is a charming woman who loves being around her family, listening to classical music, picking flowers from the garden and watching a few select films - several times! Jen is 43, she has learning difficulties so presents as someone much younger. Jen has no sense of danger and epilepsy, close supervision is required at all times. Being unsteady on her feet Jen is likely to lose balance, she can have drop seizures, so those caring for her need to be vigilant and attentive.
Jen recently stayed in residential care. This was not the best experience for Jen, however her parents have nursed her back to health but she is not weight bearing on her left leg due to some sort of trauma to her left knee, she is receiving physiotherapy. She is in a wheelchair, hopefully temporarily but in the meantime transfers from wheelchair to commode and bed are necessary. A new residential placement is being put in place but in the meantime Jen is living at home.
This is a warm and lively household with plenty going on. The Support Worker will spend 1:1 time with Jen and be an extra pair of hands to give the family a little respite. Jen needs assistance with her personal care, including dressing and washing. This is a full on position however it is for a short period of time, we would like the candidate to give it their all for the week / weeks they are supporting this family. This position would ideally be on a rota system with family members.
This role will suit someone who is energetic, bubbly and able to build rapport with people quickly. A wonderful opportunity to work with a fantastic lady and a lovely family.
