Up to £17.00 gross per hour. Temporary Full Time Support Worker required to support Mike (19) who has cerebral palsy from February – September 2020 

 

 

 


Title: Full Time Temporary support worker| Colindale NW9
Location: Colindale, NW9
Tube Station: Hendon Central, Colindale
Wage: £13.00 - £17.00 gross per hour depending on experience
Driver required? Essential 
Use of a car? On duty
Essential: supporting clients with cerebral palsy, gastrostomy, manual handling, eye gaze communication device
Start Date: February 2020 - September 2020
Days & Hours: Monday - Friday  9.00am – 5.00pm
Family Pets: No pets

About this client/child:
Mike, 19 has quadriplegic cerebral palsy  and is dependent on others for all his needs. Mike is a charming and lively young man with a great sense of humour and passion for life.  He is fun and bright and enjoys being out and about, visiting art galleries, cinema and theatres and travelling on buses and tubes. Mike is non-verbal and uses Smartboxtechnology to communicate. You need to be IT savvy to enable him to communicate effectively. All his medication, feed and fluids are administered via gastrostomy. 

Overview of role
Your role would be to assist Mike with all aspects of his daily routine and support Mike to live a fulfilling life and enable him to pursue his interests. You will take him out on trips, plan age appropriate activities and help him to access what London has to offer. 

Who this job would suit:
This job will suit a proactive, energetic and fun candidate with genuine interest in promoting independence and supporting clients to reach their full potential. You must be confident in manual handling, providing personal care and gastrostomy management. You will be a team player and be comfortable working alongside Mike’s parents and other team members.
