We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and caring Team Leader to support James a charming young lad with cerebral palsy.  James, 10, is a happy and loving young man with a real presence about him. He experiences severe dystonia that affects his movements and has a PEG tube which is how he takes his meals, hydration and medications. James uses a wheelchair and is assisted during transfers with hoists and slings. James sometimes experiences painful reflux from his feeding tube, so managing his condition and being empathetic to his needs is an essential requirement.

James attends a special needs school where he receives therapy interventions and is learning new skills every day. As well as the therapeutic input received at school James has a team of skilled therapists who visit him in the home. A key element to this role is supporting James to access his therapies in the home and incorporate them into his daily routine, ensuring they are not invasive, but holistically implemented. There is real scope here to learn from highly skilled and respected therapy professionals. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy are all part of James routine so there is never a dull moment and lots to learn! The support worker role requires you to carry out personal care, feeding, monitoring his health, keeping his environment clean and tidy, keeping accurate records of intervention, facilitating play, communication and social opportunities and accompany him into the community on trips and activities days.

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who is interested in engaging with and having a positive impact on James’ life. There is great scope for broadening your experience and the opportunity to take ownership of the role. Shifts available: Term Time:  Night shifts: 8.00pm to 8.00am. Day shifts: 4.30pm to 8.30pm. School holiday : Night shifts: 8.00pm to 8.00am. Day shifts: 8.00pm to 8.00pm. Send your CV and availability, if you’d like to join James’ team.
