Days & Hours: Wednesday (essential): 9.30pm – 8.30am plus two Fridays per month (optional): 9.30pm – 8.30am. In addition, one Saturday per month: 10.30am – 4.30pm. Additional hours, both daytime and evening may be available.

Tom, aged 9 years, requires a new candidate to join his small care team. He is a loving, sweet and cheeky chap who has cerebral palsy and additional medical needs. We are looking to recruit a calm, engaging and experienced support worker to join Tom's team. The team works closely with the parents who are instrumental in their son’s care.
The night-time role involves getting Tom ready for bed and set up his bedroom and sleep system. You'll then settle Tom to sleep ensuring he is comfortable. You can then go to bed, however, you will need to be alert to Tom waking during the night via a video monitor. He can have settled nights but often disturbs a couple of times and can take time to settle back down; he will need repositioning to help him drift back off to sleep. The morning consists of getting Tom up and ready for school and giving him his morning medications and breakfast. Due to his complex needs, Tom requires help with tube feeding and personal care. Experience of these would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.
The Saturday role involves assisting Tom to learn through play. He likes music and movement, switches, Eye Gaze, sensory play, and stories. He enjoys time outside, on his swing, slide, and trike. He also has a physiotherapy programme.
The position will suit a confident, reliable and caring candidate who has the flexibility to fit into the team and support the family with the care hours required and to possibly accompany Tom and his family on holidays in the UK or abroad. Additional hours are available, to be discussed during the interview.
