About this client/child:
Our client Amy is 24 years old, is a full-time Politics and International Relations student at Reading University who is living independently with the support of her care team and is finishing her Degree in June 2020. Amy is loving her Uni lifestyle, she is extremely social and is often out at pubs, clubs, and events with her friends, or eating out and shopping. Amy is passionate when it comes to volunteering, music and loves sports such as horse riding, scuba diving, and skiing.  Amy has cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user, she requires support with all practical daily tasks.

Overview of the role:
In this role you’ll support and enable Amy to live her life as she wants to; she requires practical support to live independently. Your key responsibilities will be to support Amy to access and take part in activities including Uni nights out, sports, volunteering and to become a big part of the student community. The role will also support Amy with her personal care (training provided) and include basic household duties such as cooking, light housework, etc. It would be of great benefit to be familiar with MacBook, programmes such as adobe, photoshop, and premier, however, training is provided in this area also.

Who this job would suit:
A lively, outgoing, energetic Female* Support Worker / PA with similar interests, who understands the importance of this role and wants to continually promote Amy’s independence and support her to live her life to the fullest. Amy describes herself as a night owl, so you must be happy to stay up late and get fully involved in Amy’s social life. It’s an ideal role for a student currently studying or a recent graduate. A driver is desirable however Amy has just passed her driving test so it is not essential.

What’s great about this job:
Amy is a fantastic person to work with, you’ll have lots of fun whilst supporting her and it is a role you can make a real difference to a person’s life. Amy throws herself into challenges and is always looking at new interests and hobbies, no two days will be the same!
