Essential: Experience supporting a client with a learning and physical disability, manual handling and hoist experience as well as providing personal care
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Monday to Friday 6.45am – 9.00am, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 4.00pm – 8.45pm. Shifts can be shared between 2 new team members, please contact us with your availability.

About this client/child:
Our fabulous client Jessica is 19 years old, living with her family in Wickford. Jessica is a happy, engaging, and sociable young lady who enjoys a range of activities including shopping, going to restaurants, visiting zoos and farms, and yoga. Jessica has cerebral palsy, a severe learning disability and epilepsy. Although she is dependent on others to meet her care needs, she strives for her independence and is very capable to make her own choices.

Overview of role:
Jessica has just finished school and will be attending college and a day centre once these resources open back up following COVID-19, Jessica requires 1:1 hands-on practical support with the morning routine to be ready for the day ahead, this includes personal care and administering medication. There is the opportunity to spend more time with Jessica in the afternoon/evening doing activities at home or spending time together out in the community before the bedtime routine starts. For this role, you must be confident in all aspects of personal care, manual handling and using tracking hoists. Training is provided and Jessica’s house is fully adapted however previous experience in these areas is essential.

Who this job would suit:
A confident, reliable, and trustworthy experienced *female support worker/carer. Jessica and her parents would ideally like to employ carers who are living locally to the family home. This is a permanent contract, so please only apply if you can commit this position on a long-term basis. The client can consider 2 support workers/carers to job share the hours advertised.
