About this client/child: Archie is 5 years old, he is an endearing and sweet little chap who loves to have a cuddle with his pet cat and dog and enjoys messy play, music and painting! Archie has Cerebral Palsy, Global Development Delay, a Learning Disability, Epilepsy and is Registered Blind, because of his complex care and medical needs, Archie requires support and assistance with all his self-care and daily tasks. Archie communicates using sounds and facial expressions. He has a small care team in place and is now looking for 2 additional members to join his team working on an alternate weekend basis.
Overview of role: The Waking Night Carer will assist with Archie’s bedtime routine and tend to all his care needs throughout the night, including personal care, administering medication, moving and handling, documenting and logging accurate information and monitoring stock supplies. Archie can experience high levels of discomfort due to wind and he needs close monitoring and attention to relieve his discomfort and settle and soothe him for a good night sleep. Additional hours are available during the day to cover annual leave etc. which is usually 6 hours per day. Rates of pay: £14.00 weekday/nights and £16.00 weekend/nights, gross per hour.
Who this job would suit: An experienced Waking Night Carer with the flexibility to support Archie during the day. This is a permanent role offering contracted hours; therefore, we require long term commitment. Previous experience supporting a young client with complex care needs and epilepsy is essential.
