About this client/child: Josh is a cheeky, sociable and fun-loving chap with a sparky personality. He lives at home in Romsey with his Mum, Dad and 3 younger siblings; this is a busy family home! Josh is always up for a laugh and is great fun to be around. He has a long list of hobbies and interests and loves to be out and about making the most of the great places, clubs and activities in her local area and beyond. At home, he loves to bake, or play in the garden on his swing and trampoline. Josh has Cerebral Palsy, is a wheelchair user, has epilepsy (controlled via medication) and a PEG in situ to top up his nutrition (he loves his food and enjoys a blended diet), fluid and medication. He uses Eye Gaze to support his limited expressive language and overall communication. Josh’s home is fully adapted to meet all his needs.

Overview of role: Josh requires 2:1 support; you will work alongside a team member to meet his needs, including all aspects of his health, care and medical plan. This includes manual handling and transitions (hoisting), supporting with personal care, therapy input and. Of course, planning fun and enjoyable activities. Josh wants his weekends jam-packed with activities, trips out and things to do to ensure he is making the most of his free time and having lots of fun. There are additional hours available during the week in the evening to support Josh after school if desired, and during the school holidays.

Who this job would suit: You will come into this role with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. Josh is a typical 11-year-old boy who could happily sit in front of the T.V for hours at a time, but knowing he is going to be out and about doing fun, exciting activities, he will be raring to go! The continuity of his care is vital; this role is a permanent position which requires a commitment to 2 weekend shifts per month, so please consider carefully before applying.

What’s great about this job: You will be joining a small but dedicated team; you will have continuous support from your colleagues. There is a comprehensive on-boarding process, with on-going support from Noah’s case manager, and his lovely family. If you want to continue making a difference in supporting an incredible, voraciously determined young boy, then please do apply.
