Benjamin is looking for an experienced senior support worker to join him and his busy care team. Benjamin is 9 years old, he has complex needs and is dependent on others to meet all his care needs. Benjamin has Total Body Dystonia which affects all areas of his development. He is a wheelchair user and uses a hoist for transfers. He is supported on a 2:1 basis. Benjamin lives at home with his Mummy and 3 brothers; he loves spending time with his family.

This will be, for the right person, a fantastic opportunity. Working in the majority hands-on, allowing you to share your skills as a senior support worker, and, being responsible for some of the admin duties that go hand in hand with working within a care team.

You will as a support worker, work alongside other members of Benjamin’s team, supporting him in his daily routine, traveling with him to places such as local shopping centers. He eats out on occasions and very recently Benjamin visited a fun park! The family travel within the UK and abroad for holidays so enabling him to do this with his brothers is important. Valid Passport, please! Benjamin has a very busy daily schedule; medical and therapy appointments, his morning and bedtime routine, and making sure he has time to get out and enjoy himself.

You will as a senior support worker, be responsible for updating the care plans, assisting with rota planning, managing stocks, ensuring Benjamin has everything he needs, organise medical and therapy appointments in conjunction with his mother. As mentioned above-being computer literate is a must, and produce a monthly report detailing Benjamin’s care needs and the progress he is making. For this part of the role, you will be an excellent communicator and feel confident liaising with Benjamin’s family, case manager, and multidisciplinary team.
