John is 16 years old and is at the heart of a loving, supportive family and care team well-known to Snap. John has cerebral palsy and complex needs, learning disabilities and epilepsy, which is brought on by various internal and external sensory stimuli. His rooms are specially adapted and have gentle lighting and a constant white noise in the background. John is fed via PEG and uses Eye Gaze to communicate. When he is feeling well, John enjoys visiting shops, going to the cinema, painting and cake making.

Your role will be facilitating John in his daily routine, ensuring he is safe and happy. You will be working alongside other members of his team; he requires 2-1 support at all times during the day.

This position will suit a calm, flexible, reliable and quietly confident person who will be comfortable working alongside others, including family members.

This job could be ideal for someone who really wants to get into the field of working with young people with disabilities. Although John’s needs are complex, excellent training and support can be provided for someone who has the right attitude.

Shifts include before and after school, 06:00 – 09:30 and 16:00 – 18:30 / 20:00; full days during the week if you are accompanying John to school or if he is at home, 06:00 – 18:30; and at weekends, 06:00 / 08:00 – 18:00; waking nights 22:00 – 06:00 (bank only). Successful applicants will have good availability at weekends or during school holidays.

Please note, whilst Snap endeavour to reply to all applications, some of our positions are so popular this is not possible and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
