Noah is a happy and affectionate 11-year-old boy who loves nursery rhymes, swimming, going on the trips, playing in the park and having hugs with his younger sister Sasha, 7. Noah has Autism and Dravet syndrome which presents with multiple seizures (these are mostly nocturnal and currently self-resolving) and developmental delay, causing difficulties with speech and motor skills. All his medications are administered via PEG. Noah attends a specialist school. He can walk unaided for short distances, however for longer journeys he uses wheelchair.

Your focus will be to support Noah outside of school hours, of course you will be engaging with his sister too when she wishes to be included. Mornings can be a difficult time when Noah needs to be helped to get ready and taken to school. After school, the afternoons will be busy setting up and engaging in fun activities, light household tasks including cooking nutritious meals, keeping areas used tidy and playing games. During school holidays there will be time to arrange trips and adventures, go swimming and have lots of fun!

This job will suit someone who has worked within a small team who is comfortable to work both alone and alongside parents at times. You’ll liaise with Noah’s parents and professionals involved in his care plan. We are seeking someone with plenty of common sense who can hit the ground running and pitch in as and when needed, whether it is singing nursery rhymes with Noah, playing games with Sasha or emptying the dishwasher. Lively, hands on, energetic candidate who can be calm, confident and adaptable to the different aspects of this role.

This is an exciting role with excellent training opportunities. Noah is an adorable chap who will be an absolute pleasure to be working with.
