Essential: Experience supporting a client with a physical disability on a 1:1 basis, confident in all aspects of personal care and manual handling
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 5.00pm – 9.30pm. Please get in touch with your availability. Additional bank hours, sleep-in night and weekend hours available

About this client/child:
Our client Sarah is 23 years old; an outgoing, social, and bright young lady. Sarah lives independently with the support of her care team in a fully adapted annex, joined to her family home. Sarah has cerebral palsy, she is a wheelchair user, has a gastrostomy PEG in situ for medication, she enjoys a modified diet orally, and is totally dependent on others to meet all her needs. Sarah has good receptive understanding, and she communicates using communication aids and non-verbal responses.

Overview of role:
Sarah requires an experienced female* Support Worker/PA to join her care team and provide hands-on practical support assisting with all aspects of her care plan, therapy programmes, daily routine and personal care needs. As Sarah’s Support Worker you will enable and empower her to access activities in the community, explore new hobbies and interests and continually promote her self-help and independence skills. You must be confident supporting a client on a 1:1 basis, and competent using a computer, complete documents, sending emails etc. and be confident in communicating and liaising with healthcare professionals.

Who this job would suit:
A creative, organised and reliable Support Worker/PA with previous experience supporting a young adult with a physical disability. You must be able to work on your own initiative, have excellent communication skills and be a confident driver.

What’s great about this job:
Excellent training available in all aspects of Sarah’s care, in particular gastrostomy PEG feeding. Ongoing supervision and support provided by Sarah’s case manager. You will have the opportunity to join a hardworking and friendly care team.  This is a permanent role with contracted weekly hours and scope for overtime.
