Helen is 29. Some of her favourite activities include reading cooking, sewing and crafting. Helen is autistic and has complex needs; she has severe speech and language delay, learning difficulties and high-frequency hearing loss. She requires 1:1 support at all times. Helen is non-verbal and you will need to be confident using either Sign Supported English and/or BSL, and willing to learn to use voice-aided communication devices to support her communication.

The role will involve supporting Helen on a 1:1 basis within the home and will suit someone mature, possibly from a teaching background. You’ll be creative and motivational with the ability to set simple work/activity sessions. You’ll need to be patient and able to tolerate repetition; Helen has a short attention span.  Although this is a part-time role, Helen’s family are looking for someone who would like to form a long-term relationship.

This role will be ideal for someone with a strong interest in communication and autism. You will have the opportunity to support a young woman whose family are committed to providing the best opportunities for their daughter.

To apply please send your CV and a brief supporting statement.
