Adam 11, is well known to Snap! He is a charming and engaging young lad who has cerebral palsy and a cortical visual impairment. He idealises his twin brother and his younger sister who is 3 and loves to spend time playing games, getting up to mischief and riding his bike!
The role will involve assisting Adam 1:1 with daily routines such as personal care, nutrition intake, an extensive therapy programme and using his specialist equipment, for example his walking frame. Adam uses communication aid such as eye gaze and a communication book; whilst you are not required to have experience with this technology a keen interest and willingness to learn is essential. Adam loves intensive interaction and having choices is key for him, he wants his independence promoted at all times.
This job will suit a motivated, organized and energetic Support Worker / PA who wants to get hands on with every aspect of Adam’s care plan and therapies. You must be confident with manual handling as Adam requires 2:1 support for all transfers. You will also enjoy working within a dynamic family who always have lots of activities planned. We are keen to hear from support workers / PAs who are available to travel with the family on holidays.
This is a challenging yet rewarding role with lots of scope and opportunity to learn new skills and work with a young man who has huge potential. If you are interested please speak to Jade or Rachael to get your application through to the next stage.
